Yes, sites such as Facebook and Craigslist are now being used to advertise hopeful parents who are looking to adopt. Gideon and Michele are one such couple who chose the internet as the vehicle for their independent adoption (adoption which is not involved with an agency). They discuss their decision to do so in an interview on Adweek’s web site.
Online adoption advertising is probably more business savvy than print advertising, because pregnant teen girls are more likely to be on Craigslist than reading a Pennysaver. However, are we comfortable trading small humans on the same site that people use to find free furniture and random sexual encounters? Do you think that this is progressive or unsettling?
