Can't Sleep? You Might Be Depressed
In the past, mental health providers thought insomnia was a symptom of depression. Now researchers have recently found a link that suggests that insomnia may actually precede an impending episode of depression.
The study in the journal Sleep claimed when insomnia lasts consistently for two weeks or more, the person faces an increased risk for developing depression in the future.
This doesn’t mean that if you’re having trouble sleeping you’ll automatically become depressed, or that not sleeping is causing your depression. It does mean that if you are having trouble sleeping, regardless of your mental state, you should probably seek help from a medical professional or learn some relaxation techniques, like meditation to seek relief.
