Attention, Lloyd Doblers!

Some people know exactly what their dream job is, but many of us aren't quite sure. One day you might want to be a yoga instructor, only to wake up the next morning with the passion to become a travel writer. Sift through the various ideas that constantly go through your mind and work from there. After all, as Linus Paul, winner of the 1954 Nobel Prize in chemistry and the 1962 Nobel Peace Prize, put it, "The best way to get a good idea is to get a lot of ideas."

It's also instrumental to know what you don't want. Skeptical? It worked for Lloyd Dobler, right? Even a fictional character knows that not knowing is a step in the right direction, you know? If we've lost you, try asking some questions to get to where you (don't?) want to be. Does a 9-5 job seem boring? Math preferable to constructing sentences? Whatever you don't like, discard—it will help you decipher what it is that you really want. Dream jobs cover an endless spectrum of professions, so free yourself to begin your quest!

Have you discovered yet what your dream job is? Are you anxious about finding it, or more relaxed about letting it come naturally?
