Doing the Right Thing with Plastic Bags

carolineshannon

DID YOU KNOW? "Plastics will live for thousands of years in a landfill, and they do not biodegrade, and they are a menace to marine life. In the garbage process, millions escape and end up in our rivers and oceans, choking and killing many creatures." -- Gorgeously Green by Sophie Uliano

Another thing: If you get stuck with plastic bags, don't put them in your curbside recycling, says Uliano. They often never make it to the appropriate facility. Instead, find a place to drop them off at a mandated plastic bag recycling bin. They can often be found at your local grocery store.

The best tip: Use reusable shopping bags! They are stylish and earth-friendly.
