Your Genetic Sickness Map

We knew this day would come sooner or later. Researchers are digging deep into the holy grail that is the DNA map, and they’re finding genetic links to conditions like cancer and heart disease at a much faster pace than was anticipated. Most recently, researchers have found six genes that make people more likely to develop type 2 diabetes.

Does this mean you’ll be hearing about cures for these conditions in coming months? Not really. But it does mean that scientists are getting a greater understanding into various diseases which will lead to better drugs and treatments in the years to come. However, you can expect to see genetic testing for these gene markers to become more popular in the coming years.

Of course, what you do with the answers from that test are your business, but it always helps to live healthier to ward off any preventable health diagnosis. [Associated Press]
