Healthy Pet Treats

Healthy Pet Treats

When a recall of tainted pet food made headlines last year, a number of pet owners began to take greater interest in natural and organic offerings for their animals. Some people even went as far as making their own pet food!

Industrious entrepreneurs got wise to the demand for healthy offerings for pets and have begun stocking shelves with vitamin infused water and vitamin tablets that can be dissolved in a pet’s water dish. It is worth mentioning that there are some creative flavor offerings here, though you won’t find pineapple-mango or raspberry-lime on the list—think peanut butter, chicken liver and bacon. And where pet-food was once a meat-based affair, more brands are using whole grains, veggies and fruit in their recipes, reflecting the dietary choices owners might make at home.

With Americans spending $16.9 billion dollars on pet food every year and wanting to adopt healthier living habits for themselves, it’s no wonder that people think they’d want to do the same for their beloved animals! [Wall Street Journal]
