One Pampered Pooch
New pet owners might want to take note: having a pet can be downright expensive. Of course, most of us don’t go to the lengths that New York City native David Best goes to for his beloved pooch, Elvis. The dog lover (that’s an understatement!) recently threw his dog a $10,000 “bark mitzvah.”
It seems that when it comes to little Elvis (who just turned 13 in dog years), “money is no object,” says Best. And he definitely spared no expense while planning the event, which included Elvis “reading” from the Torah and giving a barking bat mitzvah speech. The 100-person guest list included such luminaries as “sexpert” Dr. Ruth, Broadway star Patti LuPone, and Elvis’s mom (brought into town by the dogs’ breeder.)
If you think Best can’t top this, think again: he is already busy planning Elvis’s 21st birthday party. Do you think a bark mitzvah is over-the-top? Or are you the type that loves to spoil your pets rotten? Tell us what you think below!
Yes, I agree with Grammy. While it is very sweet, fun and shows he definitely loves his dog, it's a shame he didn't use all that money to help animals in need. It’s frustrating to see one dog pampered beyond belief when $10,000 could have helped dozens, if not hundreds, of other dogs and cats find loving homes.
Way over the top. Yes I tend to spoil my dog. But come on!!!! Elvis IS a DOG. How do I spoil my 4 legged friend?? He loves raw hides, he loves certain treats, and since he is a dachshund he loves to burrow in blankies to go to sleep. He loves to sleep next to me or my hubby on the couch. Oh yes....we own a fishing boat and Digby sure loves the boat!!
I think that Elvis's owner would be better off donating his $10,000 to the ASPCA or some other Animal organization. Obviously Elvis is already receiving more love than he knows what to do with.
