Presidential Pooch
Forget foreign policy and healthcare spending. What kind of dog should a potential first family get?
When it comes to choosing the right pet for the potential first family, the poodle comes out on top. In a national poll conducted by the American Kennel Club, it was selected as the dog of choice for the Obama family.
“It is no surprise the American public chose a poodle for Obama,” says spokeswoman Lisa Peterson. The breed is the eighth most popular nationally and the third most common type of dog in Washington, D.C.
Other breeds in the poll included the Wheaten terrier, miniature schnauzer, the Bichon Frise, and the Chinese Crested. Each was included in the survey for being hypoallergenic since one of the Obama’s daughters reportedly suffers from allergies. Senator Obama and his wife have reportedly promised their girls a dog after the presidential campaign is over in November. No word on whether John McCain is looking at a first pooch.
If you could choose the perfect pet, what would it be? Tell us below!
Boston Terrier, by far. You can't deny that those schmushy faces aren't AWESOMELY perfect.
I think Golden Retrievers are pretty special. They are so loving and loyal and smart.
