Introducing a new kitten to an old cat
My friend had two cats she got at the same time. One of them recently passed away. The other one, although up there in years is still kicking. She's thinking of getting a new kitten. Do you think that would be upsetting to the older cat who might not appreciate a new 'kid' in the house?
I don't have a cat but depending on the older cat's temperment, it may indeed be irritated by the kitten's presence. But I've seen a friend who had a three or four-year-old cat when she introduced a pug puppy and though it took a while for them to get along, eventually they did. I think this person really needs to understand the older cat and that will tell how well it adjusts to a new member of the family.
It's like siblings, right? A child might hate a new brother or sister coming in to the world, but after some time they get used to it!
