Answer:

There are a few places in Park Slope, Brooklyn that are good. One is on 5th Avenue and one is on Union Street. I can't remember names, but it's a big pet neighborhood!

A number of the animal hospitals in the city offer services to watch and walk your pet which you are away. If they are unable to assist, I would do what VictoriaB said to do - ask your vet. They're a great resource. They might even know dog walkers who wil watch your pet instead of putting them in a kennel.

I'm sure there are a number of fine kennels in the NYC area. My recommendation would be to ask your vet if they favor one over another. It's always good to have the vet involved in case something happens and your animals needs medical care.

I'm assuming you're asking about a dog, so my other thought is to ask other dog and cat owners for their thoughts. If there is a dog run in your area you could ask a few people you know or meet there. I like to hear from other pet owners about these kinds of things.

I've finally found a vet in my area that I really like and it was thanks to my asking a couple of people at the pet shop for their recommendations when I was in there getting food or I would not have known about his office.

Good luck. Make sure you check the place out thoroughly so you can rest assured your pet is being well taken care of.
