November is "Adopt an Older Pet Month"
Sure, puppies and kittens are super-cute, but there are so many adult pets that need good homes, too. Unfortunately, these old-timers often get overlooked by families looking to add a furry friend to their home. That's why the ASPCA has designated November "Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month."
"It's an unfortunate reality, but in the case of animal rescue, older dogs are much less likely to find homes because they are considered 'less desirable,'" says Mark Robinson, founder and owner of Handicappedpets.com. "Senior dogs are mellower and can make training easier because they focus better than a puppy can."
And don't forget: calmer pets make great companions for children (puppies can sometimes be overly-rambunctious with little ones), as well as the elderly.

I am so glad you shared this information, lindad14. My fiance and I have adopted four cats -- yes, we're a bit crazy -- and just rescued an adult cat. We have already found a happy home for him, and it is so nice to see him being loved. He is a precious animal who needs love just like all of the kittens! Don't get me wrong: Kittens are the best. But I always have a soft spot for the adult animals who need a home, too.
Thanks, again, for this information! Adopting is a great way to give a needy pet a home and find a pet who can make your days happier ones.
