Soothing the Savage Beast
It's been our experience that new dads (along with their partners) are often at a loss when it comes to a baby that cries constantly. There's nothing in the world you wouldn't do to soothe your little one, but once they are changed, fed and rocked...what next?
We just stumbled across "Eight surprising reasons a baby cries..." Finally! Someone has gotten into the brains of little infants and we can learn how to calm them down without going off the deep end. So if you've been trying to figure our what else might be causing those big fat howls, this might be your cheat sheet.
The number one reason your baby is fussy is that your baby is over dressed. We've seen moms toting their toddlers around the mall dressed for a weekend of Vermont! Think of how fussy you feel when you're wearing something you don't like and then multiply it times five. Makes sense, right? The common rule is if you're not cold, your baby isn't either. The second is that babies get stressed when mom and dad are arguing! We might think that leaving dishes in the sink is something to raise our voices about, but infants just don't get it...we know parents sometimes get frustrated with one another, just try to keep your voices low.
Check out the rest of the list and tell us what you think, or come up with other reasons you think babies really let it out besides boredom or hunger. Do you have a time-tested method for soothing your child?
