How do you feel about breastfeeding in public?
We know it's hard for new moms with babies in tow-- tell us how you manage.
And if you're someone who'd rather not see such a tender scene, we'd like to hear that as well!
I have no problem with it. I was really shy about nursing in public at first, but you have to get over it when your baby is screaming from hunger. After awhile, you get so good at it that many people don't even know you're doing it! I got to the point where I was able to walk around a store, holding him in my arms and breastfeeding. I didn't hide, but I certainly stayed in the aisles where no one happened to be shopping. I've gone to more private areas--not every place has a private place to nurse, and then sometimes it's faster and easier to just do it wherever you are when the baby's hungry.
A mother shouldnt have to look for a place to be private when her baby is crying and hungry!! Whoever dont like it can leave!!!! Ignorance!!!
I do not care where a woman is!! That is nature and it should never even bother anyone!! It makes me so sick when people make a big deal out of it, but yet go to a local beach and see much more exposure than that!! Breasts sre not for entertainment or pleasure. Im not saying its bad to use them for that, but come on people this is how a woman is nourishing her baby!! That should be accepted anywhere, any place that the woman feels comfortable!!Whats wrong with people?
I agree with Dadeeyo189. I don't mind if there isn't any nipple exposure, but I also think that if a mom can find a more private place to breastfeed or pump, then that's ideal. I know many department stores have family areas to make life easier. I heard about a woman at Pottery Barn (or some other store) that was asked not to breastfeed her baby while sitting on one of the bedding displays. The employee got into a lot of trouble, but I tend to agree with them. The mother could have found a more private area.
As long as there's no visibility of the nipple, I'm fine with it. However, there is something rather shocking about a woman all of a sudden whipping out her breast. It's kind of like being mooned--you're shocked at first but then you're like, "oh well."
