Put a Lid on It!

Put a Lid on It!

On the journey toward being happier, you will have to learn how to deal with anger and negativity when the going gets rough. And let’s face it, there will always be frustrations and upsetting experiences in life, so you may as well seize the day and get better at handling them.

Real Simple magazine outlines four different “anger styles” seen in most people: Explosive (which we're guessing this guy in the photo knows well), Avoidance, Passive-Aggressive and Habitual Irritation. The names are fairly self-explanatory, and you’re probably already aware of which one characterizes you.

Each style includes a “What It Looks Like,” “Why You Might Do It,” and “Damage” explanation. Best of all, Real Simple tells you how to turn that anger around, techniques for emerging from negativity, and how to go about things differently in the future. Once you are in tune with your anger tendencies, you should be better able to positively work through them en route to happiness. [Real Simple]
