Into the Breech
At some point during your pregnancy you’ll begin thinking out a birth plan. Most women cover the whole natural birth vs. c-section dilemma early on, but may or may not think about what to do if the baby comes in a breech (bottom first) presentation.
According to a new study from Norway, men and women who had been delivered breech were twice as likely to have their own babies delivered in the same manner. It seems there is a genetic link that is transferred from both the maternal and paternal lines that set the stage for a more difficult birth.
It is worth finding out whether you or your partner were delivered breech—armed with this knowledge, a doctor or midwife can be more prepared to help you with your own birth plan. [The New York Times]
