Pregnancy and Diabetes

Gestational diabetes affects about 7.5% of pregnancies every year. Diabetes is also on the rise among women who are not pregnant yet—meaning that their risk of miscarriage or a difficult pregnancy is increased.

While it doesn’t sound encouraging, taking precautions before and during pregnancy  can help ensure that both you and baby are healthy! Diabetes tends to affect those who are overweight or obese, so diet and exercise  are the first steps toward a healthy pregnancy. You should also see your doctor before or soon after you become pregnant to diagnose diabetes or any other problems you may have. Have any of you dealt with diabetes during pregnancy? Let us know what you've learned. [Wall Street Journal]
