Question:When/How do you tell your ex about a new guy?

My ex and I are still very close, share circles of friends, talk regularly and hang out. ALL platonic, but we still think of each other as a best friend...knows me better than anyone and vice versa.

So, at what point do you talk about someone that you're dating? Or at least mentioned that you're doing so? Do you avoid that conversation at all costs?

Answer:

Hmm, yeah I'm not sure we've truly moved beyond our relationship. That's probably part of the problem! Everyone told me to tell my ex, but this new guy and I don't have anything official...so I didn't see the point in mentioning it. But I do feel like I'm lying. :(

Answer:

If you guys have moved beyond your relationship and truly are "best friends" then he should be happy for you when you talk about the new guy you're seeing. It might be awkward talking about him at first, but if he's your friend, he'll want to know about the important people in your life.

Answer:

Are you asking when you tell your ex that you are seeing someone new? Right away. If you're as close as you claim, there's no reason to withhold information.

If you're asking when to tell your new mate about your close relationship with your ex, same applies. Keep things in the open. And if the new person is someone you're truly into, be prepared for the special friendship you share with your ex to take some hits. You can't expect to share life with both of them.
