how does one conjure up the courage to end a year long relationship with someone that i can see myself with but not until im ready?

Do you mean you can see yourself married to this person, but aren't ready yet? Is the other person ready, you think? Maybe you need a cool-down/break period...and not a full-blown break up.
I think communicating your feelings is top priority, even though this is hard! Especially if you think your sig. other is not on the same page.
