A Car Worthy of a Super Hero

A Car Worthy of a Super Hero

Batman has his Batmobile, Iron Man drives and IROC Z and the Green Hornet speeds around in Black Beauty, but what kind of car would Captain Planet drive? Chances are it would be XP Vehicle's new inflatable car, the Whisper, which is set to debut in 2010.

Not only do the makers claim the car will travel 2,500 miles on a single charge, but that the inflatable design will allow the car to survive a fall off a cliff or a major tsunami. Uh, whatever you say dudes. Drivers, you are not inflatable. Best not to test this functionality.

It does sound like a bunch of hype, but the folks at XP Vehicles say they hope to unveil a prototype by the end of the year and start selling to dealerships shortly thereafter. Captain Planet, if you're reading this, start saving your money. The Whisper will cost about $10,000.

Maybe they called it a "whisper" because that's what everyone will be doing when the driver turns his back. Or maybe this is the wave of the future. Discuss. [PhysOrg.com]
