Driving Your Age

Every species has its form of attracting a mate. Peacocks have their plumage, lions have their manes and middle-aged men have their Porsches.

British auto insurance website, Tescocompare.com, compared more than 500,000 of their auto insurance quotes and found that the average age of a Porsche owner is 39 years old. Whether they're driving a Cayenne, Boxter or 911, the gents might as well be screaming "Hellooo midlife crisis!"

There's nothing wrong with acting your age, but if your objective in buying a flashy new sports car is to feel young again or to attract younger babes, then you might want to consider some models that are more popular with the younger set. In Britain, the average age for a Mini Cooper driver is 33.

Back on this side of the pond, if you want to feel like a teenager again, why not get yourself a nice seven-year-old Honda Civic. A survey by a U.S. auto insurance consulting company, Quality Planning Corporation, revealed that the old standby was the most popular used car for teenagers in 2007.
