Have Gun Will Travel
Car dealerships across America have been trying everything from gas discounts to creative financing to attract customers in this time of economic downturn, but it seems that one Missouri car man has found a surefire way to attract customers.
Mark Muller, owner of Max Motors, says that sales have been up since he began offering customers the option of a $250 gas card or credit at a gun shop for the same amount—though not for the reason one might think.
Of the 30 buyers Muller has had in the past three days, 28 have opted for the gun. Only a Canadian and an "old guy" have opted for the gas card. Seems strange, right? Picture the late night brainstorm. "Gotta sell cars. What do people who like cars want? Gas? Maybe. Girls? Nah, can't really give girls away. I know! Guns!" Perhaps the idea was hatched while playing Grand Theft Auto IV. Whatever the case, we really, REALLY hope no one is planning to use their gun to take gas at gunpoint (or anything else, for that matter.)
While gimmicks and giveaways may be tempting when you're searching for a new car, remember to factor in their value with the overall price of the vehicle. You wouldn't want to, uh, shoot yourself in the foot. [Yahoo! News]
