Cans Can Do Do-overs
Recycling cans and bottles as a kid was like winning the lottery. You’d schlep those things five miles through 10 feet of snow for $1.20 per case. That was a whole lotta money back then.
If only cans and bottles could cover your mortgage. Heck, you’d even settle for the electric bill.
But it’s not about the money. It’s about helping to reduce pollution. It’s about putting those empty soda cans and beer bottles in the recycling bin instead of the trash. And, hauling that bin out to the curb once a week.
The result is pretty amazing. Aluminum recycling is so efficient that a can might be picked up, melted down and back on the shelf as a new can in as little as 60 days. All that, and you don’t even have to go to the redemption center.
Unless you’re short on cash.
