Lunch Hour Activism
Two score and twenty years ago... the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). To celebrate, spend part of today’s lunch hour showing your support for this important document.
Instead of surfing the net for holiday sales, visit ProtectTheHuman.org and learn more about the UDHR, “30 articles that articulate a collective desire for basic rights for all people, everywhere.” Rather than getting that luxurious manicure/pedicure, join millions of Amnesty International USA supporters around the world by signing their pledge in support of the UDHR. Even if you aren’t ready to sign just yet, it never hurts to get educated. Click 'continue' without signing and read more on various ways you can take a stand to protect human rights.
And if just signing an online petition isn't enough or there's another cause you want to support, check out the new Causes page at Care2, a site dedicated to giving people powerful tools to make a difference in their life, community, country and the world. See what moves you. Think about volunteering on your lunch hour—if you can't break away from the office, maybe you can stuff some envelopes or start an email campaign from your desk. There's always doing something good for one of your co-workers, too. That's human rights, for sure!
Who says you can’t make a difference in an hour?
