Embarrass Your Negative Voice
Battling depression starts on the inside with the mind. I suggested to life coach, Sallie Felton, on her radio show, A Fresh Start, that very often depression takes over the mind and feeds us things that we have decided are true. Emerging from this tunnel of negativity starts with taking a close look at what we're telling ourselves over and over.
What is the worst thing you tell yourself? When you look in the mirror, what is it you focus on? Write these statements down or tell them to someone else. More than likely, they aren't true at all! Throughout your day, become more aware of the disapproving voice in your head and try to catch yourself every time you disapprove of something you do, say, eat, wear and so on.
When you shine a light on it, your disapproving voice actually starts to be a little embarrassed. Stick with it, and slowly but surely, that negativity will begin to have less of an influence over your life.
Of course, if you or anyone you know is suffering from severe depression, consult a professional.

A simple approach, but sometimes the simplest things are best. I will try this.
