Don't Chuck Your Water Bottles, Wear Them!
Wearing vintage threads or reconstructed t-shirts is one thing, but how about wearing a men’s suit made from plastic water bottles? EcoGir sends the bottles to Japan, where they are crushed until becoming filament yarn. They are then combined with polyester or wool to make the garment, and the entire garment can be either 50% or 100% recycled.
Don’t worry, it looks exactly like a regular suit.
Now hold on to your wallets, boys, and listen up before you have visions of changing your style. The “fabric” is not as soft as that of regular suits, but more importantly, the ventilation is poor. What does that mean? An acute salesman says, “You’ll sweat to death in the summer and freeze to death in the winter.”
On the bright side, the suits cost an affordable $250 and can be put in the washer AND dryer, which will save on dry-cleaning in the long run! Click through to see pictures of these bottled threads. [New York Post]
Yeah, Lourdes542, I'm not sold either! But I'm glad to see fashion headed in a greener direction.
Cool that people are thinking of new ways to recycle things...but I'm not sure I'd like wearing plastic clothing.
