Breaking Out of Your Comfort Zone

Department stores are overwhelming sometimes, but they provide something important for this change—variety. When you're facing a future style change, you want to see all the possibilities out there.

For women, most department store makeup counters offer fast, free makeovers by professionally trained makeup artists. Even if you don’t want any new products, you may pick up some application tips and tricks that will help with changing your look.

Someone who wants a bolder palette may prefer M.A.C, for instance, while the subtle colors of Clinique may work for someone who likes a classic look. Come armed with ideas and don’t be afraid to express them. When the makeover is done, the artist will recommend that you purchase the items they used. (They are there to sell, after all!) If you loved a particular shade of shadow or lipstick, go for it, but don’t feel pressured into a sale. You can always come back or just keep experimenting with different looks in the mean time.

For the guys, there are plenty of men’s skincare lines in department stores or you could also try Sephora, which carries a good number of men’s products for your new image needs.
