Be a Green Home Family
They say education starts at home—and when it comes to creating a green home, it helps to involve your kids as well as lead by example!
MSN has a great list of ways to teach your kids about caring for the environment at home. Some suggestions include walking or biking instead of driving, creating recycling bins, planting a tree or other plants and reading books about the environment together.
We’ve got some ideas of our own—and it should be noted that if you don’t have kids of your own, these are great things to try with a niece, nephew or family friend! Try taking a family trip to the nearest farmer’s market—or better yet, a working farm—and help your children understand where their food comes from. While you might not see your teens as much as young ones, you can always send a text message reminder about taking out the recycling! Families can also do a thorough spring cleaning together using natural cleansers made at home (yeah, you can use store-bought stuff, but that’s not as fun!) By showing and doing with your kids, you’ll be raising a new generation of environmentally conscious individuals who will have a cleaner world to live in for years to come! [Msn.com]
