Et Tu, Al?

Et Tu, Al?

For many people, Al Gore was the torchbearer for the whole green movement. So he has become somewhat of an easy target for critics who like to point out that he isn't living on a sustainable wind farm and eating raw foods for breakfast. Conservative website Newsmax reports that despite Gore's efforts to add solar panels, install a geothermal system, replace existing light bulbs with more efficient models, and overhaul the home's windows and ductwork, his Tennessee home still uses 17,768 kWh per month.

"A man's commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home," Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research told Newsmax. "Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption."

Ouch! Come on, why all the hate? At least Gore is trying. Unfortunately, Johnson's reaction is a stronger version of one you might receive when you're trying to build your green home. The important thing is for you to do your research and stick to your guns. A spokesperson from the Gore camp has pointed out that Gore's green renovation was a three-year process completed only last November and therefore not enough time has passed to complete a thorough evaluation.

Have you experienced any backlash since you've started making your home more ecologically friendly? Tell us how you're handling it! [Newsmax]
