Our Hearts Won't Go On

Stars. They're just like us! Some are out there fighting the green fight, while others are lagging miserably behind. Stars like Adrien Grenier, Jack Johnson and Kristen Davis have been doing everything from installing insulation made from recycled blue jeans to powering their homes with solar panels, while others are downright energy hogs.

The Chicago Tribune published a list of eight of the most environmentally offensive celebrities, and some of their selections may surprise you. Coming in at the top of the list was Celine Dion, who uses 18,000 gallons of water a day on a home that is still under construction. Rounding out the list was everyone's favorite nerdy billionaire, Bill Gates. An MIT class estimated that Gates' carbon impact is 10,000 times greater than that of an average person! With his fourth place position on the list, Al Gore also has his own inconvenient truth to face. In 2007 it was reported that the former Vice President used 17 times more electricity than his Tennessee neighbors. We hope-hope-hope he's since made changes!

Additional celebrities on the list include Maddona (number 7) and Tiger Woods (number 2). Check out the Tribune to see the rest of the list and read more about their offenses. While we may have looked to these idols for fashion tips and lifestyle examples, we might want to start looking to more progressive celebrities when it comes to having a green home. Better yet, let's look to each other. Share your going green tips with us today! [Chicago Tribune]
