Rules for Green Homes

If you’ve been concerned about finding a green builder because you don’t know what rules and regulations to hold them accountable to, you won’t have to wait much longer to know for sure.

The National Association of Home Builders has introduced a National Green Building Standard that aims to help both consumers and industry professionals better understand what to expect when creating a green home. The Association hopes these guidelines will “maintain the flexibility of green building practices while providing a common national benchmark for builders, remodelers and developers.”

Under the guidelines, builders would be expected to provide eco-friendly features that save energy, reduce water use and create better indoor air quality while educating homeowners about their options. Three cheers for an industry organization helping individuals go green at home! [Kitchen and Bath Design News]
