As you sift through products and information on creating a green home and try to live a more sustainable lifestyle, captains of industry are wondering how to best reach you.
According to Joel Makower, author of The Green Consumer, there’s a disconnect between the information you’re receiving and your actions—you may be willing to talk about going green, but more reluctant to actually do it. His rationale is that the industry has yet to produce quality products that consumers can trust and enjoy.
We beg to differ! If you think that buying green means buying low-quality, think again. Plenty of home products do a great job and look nice to boot (think Method and Mrs. Meyers). Also, going green isn’t just about what you buy, but about what you choose to forego. Being a smart consumer means getting only what you need.
