The Mother of All Profiles
So you're a sexy young thang living in Renaissance-era Italy, and you want to get your fine self married. There are plenty of eligible Renaissance men (hey, where do you think the term came from?), but you're stuck at home all day learning Latin and chatting with your girlfriends about the latest Milanese fashions. Online dating won't be invented for another 500 years, so how are you going to make sure your betrothed can see your profile?
That's easy. You just head over to that crazy guy Leonardo's house and ask him to take a break with that grumpy Mona Lisa dame so he can draw you a little profile.
Experts believe that a profile drawing of a 15th century woman once attributed to an anonymous German artist, was actually created by Leonardo di Vinci with the purpose of being used for a long distance marriage proposal.
Although many of the portrait's elements, such as the woman's style of dress and the fact that it appears to have been drawn by a left-handed artist smack of DiVinci, experts still have to verify that it's authentic. If so, this mother of all dating profiles could be worth millions of dollars.
Who knows, maybe that winning shot of you on your online dating profile could also be a valuable piece of art some day, so choose a good photographer! [Associated Press]
