Is it possible to wean myself off of my meds?
I'm tired of taking medication for my dysthemia. I know that I am a lot happier now than I was when I was first diagnosed. I'm trying to start a spiritual practice, and my boyfriend is very supportive of me. I have a much healthier and more positive outlook on my life. I have not taken my meds since Friday, and I can feel the effects. With my work, will my depression go away? Or will I have to force myself to accept that it will be with me forever?

I would definitely get in contact with whomever prescribed it and see what he/she thinks. But also, seek out second opinions about the weaning process. You could also check the Web MD page, or the official page for the drug and learn more about it.
I'd like to believe you can find a sympathertic medical professional whose wish is to also see you reduce or eliminate the need for medication.
I'm not a medical professional, but I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to just stop, but rather, as you say, wean yourself off. I'm also imagining there to be alternative therapies you can employ to help keep your mood and outlook elevated. Take care of yourself in general in terms of eating right, drinking water and getting good sleep.
I think the key is to work with a doctor or health professional to put together a program that gets the same results as the medication without the need for those chemicals in your body.
Good luck. I'm cheering for you!
