BellaBKNY

Question:How do you stop negitive thoughts from getting the best of you?

On bad days with my depression and anxiety, I will get a negitive thought in my head and it will eat away at me.

Espcially when it comes to my romantic relationship

I will get a negitive thought in my head like.. "He doesnt love me ..how could he? im nothing special. He is probably lying to me to make me feel good."

These thoughts will come to me for no good reason, He is very good to me and loves me lots..

It can be so bad that I will even project these things on to him when he didnt do anything to warrent it..

Im tired of being my own worset enemy..

Help.

Answer:

The first hurdle would be to "Understand" why you feel this way about yourself. To do this i would recommend making a regular appointment with a counsellor or psychotherapist to dig into it. Once you have some semblance of "Understanding" you should then be in a position to begin "Controlling" your reactions and thoughts by using specific tools given within your sessions.

Also, don't forget good old distraction. Distraction can help eliminate negative thoughts during the short term.

Good luck in fighting your demons.

I did not mean to send that answer as I did my 3 year jump in my lap and made me hit the wrong button. I feel the same way BellaBKNY feels. I am surely in no position to give anyone any advice. I do apologize for the error.

That is the thing I really don't love anything about myself right now. How can I think positive.

I would try to get at the root of your anxiety/depression...what specifically bothers you about yourself? On the flip side, yes, what do you love about yourself?

Answer:

Everyone has bad days. Even the most successful people question the love and loyalty of others...so know that you're not alone!

Perhaps you can try to replace the negative thoughts that come up with positive affirmations about yourself. What do YOU love about you? In finding a way to love yourself, you'll find a way to let him love you, too.
