I understand where you are in some ways. I am 57 and stay scared to death something will happen to disturbe this egg shell we live in. My husband and I are not prepared for retirement cause we gave it all away helping irresponsible kids for the last 10 years. We are even raising a grandchild. she is 3 yrs old and we have had her since she weas 4 months old. I have no idea how I will will afford school clothes and supplies again at our age.

It's scary isn't it mom?
My husband and I lost our house at 50 years old. We are renters again after 25 years, and i don't like it.
I feel so 'lost'. I live in the same town i was born in, and i feel like we need to get away, but my mom is 92, and my best friend, and i can't leave her till she passes.
WE don't have any saving either, we just flew by the seat of our pants, but we have GOT to make up a plan, and have some goals. We have one daughter, who is making her way in the world on her own, with no help from us (she knows we cant afford it) We did do one huge thing for her. Gave her a 2005 Silver BMW which was paid for, but she traded that in on a convertible, and now she traded THAT in on a Jetta.
Now i'm kicking myself.
You never start thinking about the future till you hit your 50's, then thats ALL you think about.
