"My interview with Ariane was nothing but smooth, professional, and a hell of a lot of fun. Not the usual 20 questions. Highly recommended." -Timothy Ferriss, #1 NY Times bestselling author of The 4-Hour Workweek

Green Expectations

Green Expectations

What could be worse than going on a hot first date with someone who loves Freudian philosophy and the Houston Astros as much as you do, only to go back to their house and discover that  they have three Hummers in the garage, they've left all of their non-CFL light bulbs on and their kitchen is littered with plastic bags? If you've got your heart set on living the eco-life, surely nothing short of an hour-long shower with non-organic soap!

After all, no green home is complete without a like-minded soul to share it with. A group of creative entrepreneurs recently capitalized on this concept by organizing a green speed-dating event. All of the participants presumably had a passion for the environment and the $20 entrance fee went toward building solar panels in Nicaragua.

The inaugural event drew a curious crowd and perhaps a few ended up hooking up. The singles had three minutes to score potential dates, surely enough time to size up a carbon footprint and a favorite vegetarian restaurant. However, one participant was dissatisfied with the turnout. At the end of the night when most singles had written down the names of those who had piqued their interest, Francois Jaquet's list was empty.

"We can't all drive bicycles like I do," Jaquet told NPR's Morning Edition. "But I want to see people at a green speed dating who've at least tried." We feel ya, Francois. Better luck next time.

Are you having trouble finding a relationship with someone who shares the same environmental philosophy as you? If there's no green speed-dating in your area, can you recommend good places to meet fellow tree huggers?
