Take Her Out to the Ballgame

Take Her Out to the Ballgame

Sports fanatics usually turn to the sports section of their local newspaper for statistical information on their favorite sports teams. However, the wolverine-loving population of Ann Arbor, MI recently found some completely different stats in the paper: 49-year-old woman, attends church regularly, enjoys boating, music, cooking, travel, long walks, museums and learning golf. Would like to find a husband with similar interests.

A very clever woman named Susan Mayer took out a two-column display ad in the Ann Arbor News sports section with the title "Lady Seeks Husband."

"I just wanted to be upfront in telling potential dates what I'm looking for," she told a reporter with Newhouse News Services. "I'm not getting any younger. It's time for me to go out and find a husband."

Mayer said that she was growing tired of being set on blind dates by eager friends and relatives and that she found it hard to trust people on online dating sites.

So far, she's had a few responses, but hasn't heard from anyone worth dating yet. If you're interested in dating Susan, you can reach her the old-fashioned way—by post. Her address, 46036 Michigan Ave., No. 158, Canton Township, MI 48188, is included in the article.

Would you ever consider finding romance in an unconventional place? [Newhouse News Service via Twincities.com]

Does anyone else find it unwise/unsafe to put your address in the newspaper like that? I'm all for going out on a limb to find love, but that seems like a very bad idea.
