Fall into a New Job
Looking over your shoulder, hoping your dream job will appear? Blame the season! The changing leaves and cold winter months of September and January are the most popular months to change careers, say the experts.
"If you're a parent and your kids are going back to school, you naturally start thinking: What about me?” says corporate speaker Merge Gupta-Sunderji. The New Year, with so many long months ahead, also offers the perfect opportunity to start fresh.
However, Carol Kanchier, author of Dare to Change Your Job and Your Life, says the time of year doesn’t matter as much as the type of person you are. She claims questers are people who embrace change often and make the most out of opportunities, while traditionalists are more…well, traditional (of course!) and are more focused on money and job security instead. Either way, she says, "If we don't voluntarily change, the universe is going to help us by some kind of sign." Maybe it’ll be those red and gold leaves after all!
We want to know, does the fall foliage strike a change in your heart or are you always jonesing for something new? [Working Canada]
Fall is my favorite season, October is my favorite month, followed closely by my birthday Nov. 2, and I'm excited about doing the New England road trip thing for the leaves. There's something really magical about this time!
I love the fall and the beautiful colors of the leaves in New England. Now that I think about it, my changes have pretty much taken place in the fall, carreer wise and trauma wise. To me, It's about being outside and enjoying the weather. It just so happens I got laid off after 13 years. The agency I worked for hads been having big laoff's over the past 6 months, with more coming. However, I have 2 jon interviews next week. Maybe those beautiful leaves will come with a brand new job. A fresh new start. It's defintely a time for change for me!
