How the Heck Can I Get That Dream Job?
Dream jobs are exactly that, right? Dreams. Not so for David Rosen, who wrote the new book What's That Job and How the Hell Do I Get It?: The Inside Scoop on More Than 50 Cool Jobs From People Who Actually Have Them. He spoke to a blogger, a screenwriter, a video game developer, a veterinarian and many more about what exactly they do all day, what the pros and cons are, how one gets a foot in the door in that particular profession and how much money they really make.
"I wasn't as much trying to dispel [misconceptions] about the jobs and find counterintuitive things but more really just trying to get the details that people don't ever really talk about," Rosen told U.S. News & World Report. Rosen also learned a lot about himself regarding the jobs he would and couldn't be able to do. He said he would love to be a chef, but being a doula (an assistant during childbirth) was not really possible for him and even being a band manager was tough when you took all the travel and craziness into account.
What's it like being a writer? Rosen admits he wakes up at 8:00 a.m., works on his novel during part of the morning and much of the afternoon while catching up on the latest Hollywood gossip. Now that sounds like a dream job. [U.S. News & World Report]
