I have been trying FOREVER to find work online - don't want to own any business - just want to earn a living with my computer - can't find anyone to trust???
I am an exceptional typist which in the computer age may not be exceptional at all. I would like to find real work that I can do from home and my computer. I know it's out there - but in a few years of trying I have yet to come up with something that not only is for real - not a scam - but also a way to make an actual living.
I think any job that requires you to put down money (for training materials, job search, etc) is sketchy. I have looked into becoming a virtual assistant. If you do an online search, there are a few companies out there that provide job listings, etc. I haven't applied to anything yet, but it looks legit.
Where have you been looking? Craigslist can have some scams, but I've gotten tons of jobs from there that are totally legit...you do have to do your research first and avoid anything that seems too good to be true, like the claims that you'll make $10,000 a month for 20 hours a week of work!
If you know of companies in your area, or just in general, google them and go to their web page and look for the Jobs area. Finding jobs directly this way should give you some legit options.
You're smart to not trust "too-good-to-be-true-offers" that you find online. Try going to a temp agency in your area and see if they can hook you up with some work. Face to face is always best.
Have you ever thought about training to be a medical transcriptionist? I have been in healthcare for 28 years and most transcriptionists today are based from home.
