Four Approaches to Home Organization
“Where do I begin?” You are officially flustered at the daunting task of organizing your home. Always helpful Unclutterer suggests these approaches:
1. What area do you see first thing in the morning? Start there.
2. What area do you see when you get home from work? Start there.
3. What area stresses you out the most? Tackle it!
4. Use the top-down philosophy. In other words, begin with dusting and end with sweeping.
The idea behind these suggestions is to figure out which part(s) of the house bother you the most, to the point that merely seeing them can send your anxiety through the roof. For the sake of your sanity, it’s best to prioritize those problem areas.
If the entrance to your home is filled with shoes, coats and mail, and makes walking difficult, it's probably not what you want to see when you arrive home after a long day. If the bathroom is disgusting, maybe that bad mood first thing in the morning is related? Disorganization and chaos can make a home unhappy, and can color your entire day even when you are away from it. [Unclutterer]
