Know Your Stuff

Know Your Stuff

While organizing your house and possessions may keep you busy and a little frazzled at times, you know you don’t believe your own words when you exclaim, “I wish this would all disappear!” Coming home to an empty house or a house destroyed in a natural disaster is everyone’s worst domestic nightmare. Unfortunately, it can happen to anyone, which means you should have a sound plan in place before it does.

Unclutterer recommends the “inventory software” that goes by the self-explanatory name of Know Your Stuff. Basically you take an inventory of your household possessions by organizing them according to room and estimating the cost of each item. This way, you know how much insurance to buy for the items and you can use the same information for tax purposes. It sounds like a cumbersome exercise, but it would be well worth it in the event something happens to your home!

Do you have home insurance or have you considered purchasing some? Have you ever taken inventory of your possessions?
