Organization=Money In the Bank

Organization=Money In the Bank

Losing that credit card bill in mounting clutter only to find it when the due date has passed means money lost. This is just one example of how being disorganized can lead to losing money, literally, and why Deniece Schofield believes that getting organized can really pay off.

Schofield is an author and “organization expert” who regularly gives seminars on getting organized. Schofield warns against merely throwing away things, because it won’t help with the chaos that still remains and won’t necessarily teach you the principles of keeping your house in order. Rather, she advises that “things not used very often should be put in a storage room and a list of them taped to the back of the door.” She’s also an advocate of labeling everything and keeping papers in order via file folders and drawers.

“Time is money,” Schofield says. If you aimlessly put something away, forget you bought or own it in the first place, and drive somewhere to buy the same thing, you have lost both time and money in the process.

Can you think of a time where being more organized could have saved you money? [Herald & Review]
