The Pumpkin Rule
Megan Drayton practically eats organization for breakfast—she created eChef Software, a digital tool for recipe organization! She traces her organization principles back to a very specific childhood experience: the hunt for a pumpkin in the fall.
Drayton and her brother were told they could have any pumpkin they fancied, as long as they could carry it back to the car. Therein lies an important life lesson, and one that is relevant to getting organized: don’t bite off more than you can chew.
Well, Drayton actually did bite off more than she could chew when it came to her massive recipe collection a few years back. Magazine clippings and product box recipes were exploding out of binders, making the search for any one in particular arduous. But, rather than letting the chaos get the better of her, she decided to develop the aforementioned software. The rest is history!
Have you been able to turn an organization nightmare into an organization dream come true? [Unclutterer]
I love this story!!
First of all, I like the "pumpkin rule" -- it teaches children an interesting lesson about taking as much as you can handle.
What I also really like is that she was able to take lemons and make them into lemonade... I have recipes everywhere. I should probably check out the software so I can organize myself to take advantage of all the great recipes I've clipped over the years.
