DMB Goes Green

Rock stars are often perceived as selfish and ego-driven, trashing hotel rooms or making outrageous demands while on tour. But the Dave Matthews Band is a band of a different color. They’re doing their best to go green and make their summer concert tour as eco-friendly as possible.

The band has agreed to use a mix of petroleum and biodiesel in their tour vehicles; sell eco-friendly souvenirs at their shows; recycle as many plastic, glass and cardboard products as possible; eat local and organic food; and “neutralize” their carbon footprint by investing in renewable energy.

"We had two main goals with the greening of this tour," says Stefan Lessard, the band’s bass player. "Shrink our environmental footprint as much as possible, and bring a message to our fans that we all can do something good for the environment and have fun doing it."

How’s that for leading by example. Good job, guys!
