LEED the Way to Green
Not only can you have a green life, but green construction is hot now, too. In fact, more and more people and companies are looking for green alternatives when building and remodeling.
The standard for green building was created by the non-profit U.S. Green Building Council with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. For the past few years, it has provided everyone from your neighbor to corporate conglomerates specific guidance and tools for building homes, retail space, schools, healthcare facilities and even ways to update existing structures.
The LEED frenzy could grab hold of even more attention in the future, as reported by TheDailyGreen.com. The proposed American Commerce Center in Philadelphia will become the second tallest building in the world, passing by the top of the Empire State Building with an extra 250 feet. And of course, the designers are aiming to achieve one of the highest certifications from LEED—a gold status.
If green creativity can devise a plan as big—literally—as this new tower, taking your own small or giant leaps toward going green should be a piece of cake—from an eco-conscious bakery, of course.
