Have Diploma-Will Work 4 Food
As the job market gets a little tighter, those who have recently graduated may not have a hard time finding work! You can thank the baby boomers for this because employers are worried about the looming exile of this generation from the work force. Nevertheless, finding a full-time job post graduation is still a full-blown mission.
In a recent article in the New York Times, James Tarbox, director of career services at San Diego State University said, “Things are not good but they aren’t really bad yet either.” Unfortunately, employers cannot afford to hire as many new graduates as they would like. Most employers offer paid or unpaid internships. Michael Profita, director of career services at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., explains that “In uncertain times, employers are more cautious and want a known quantity before they decide to hire.”
You may be sick of looking for a job already, but we say don’t give up! If all else fails, there's always grad school. Many graduates believe that the economy will let up in a couple years, so why not buy some time with some more education?
Tell us how you’re doing in your first 30 days after graduation. Do you have a job yet?
