Better Sex Quickly
Forget “You Shook Me All Night Long.” Most couples aren’t lasting as long as the average sitcom.
A soon-to-be published study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine reveals that the optimal amount of time for sexual intercourse was 3 to 13 minutes. Couples who timed the act over a course of four weeks reported that the average time for intercourse (not including foreplay) was 7.3 minutes. In case you’re wondering how they timed it, women were given stopwatches—unfortunately, no information is available on whether hitting the button and yelling “go!” at your mate might increase performance anxiety!
Seriously, though—the hope is that the findings will help therapists encourage their patients to relax a bit. When it comes to having better sex don’t worry about how long it lasts. Just focus on making a connection with your partner. [CNN]
