Veteran Sex Advice

Whether its significant weight gain, going grey “down there”, or scars from a recent surgery, any significant body change can have a huge effect on your sex life. It’s hard to lose your inhibitions when you’re self-conscious about your body, not to mention if the change is causing you physical discomfort.

So it’s no wonder that many Iraq vets returning from war with wounds and amputations have had major difficulties reconnecting with their partners back home.

Last week a group of vets and their partners met at a first-of-its-kind conference in Washington to talk about the part of their recovery that wasn’t talked about in the war zone. Speakers said that the worst thing anyone can do is to keep their feelings bottled up inside.

"My feeling is the sooner it's discussed and the more it's discussed, the more chance of having less arguments, less confusion, less frustration," said BJ Jackson, a double amputee.

If you’re embarrassed or uncomfortable about your body, take the same advice given to these vets and talk about it with your partner. [Abcnews.com]
