Make Employers Want You
Yes, it stinks to have lost your job in a recession, and yes, it stinks that you now have to find a new job in a recession, but that doesn’t mean you’re destined to be unemployed forever. There are a few tricks you can do with your application to stand out and get the job you want. Linda Stern from Newsweek.com has some strategies for you, including:
- Try moving to a growing industry, such as healthcare or education, as there are more likely to be openings.

- Update your resume to include more accomplishments, and list the skills that apply to the industry you want to work in.
- Get a part-time job to get the cash flowing, just until you find what you want.
